Jennifer Abbruzzese is an Associate Lecturer in the Department of Biological Sciences at Idaho State University (ISU), where she has taught since 2012. She holds an M.S. and B.A. in Biology from Utah State University. Her research focuses on voltage-gated ion channels, particularly exploring structure-function relationships, channelopathies, and drug development. She teaches introductory biology courses including BIOL 1101, BIOL 2206, and BIOL 2207L.
Before joining ISU, Abbruzzese worked as a Research Associate at the Nora Eccles Cardiovascular Research and Training Institute at the University of Utah. Her work has contributed to understanding molecular mechanisms of ion channel regulation, drug interactions with channels, and channelopathies. Key research areas include hERG1 potassium channels, Kv channels, and temperature-sensitive ion channel mutations.
Abbruzzese's publications span 2004-2013, emphasizing ion channel biophysics, pharmacology, and evolutionary aspects. She has collaborated on studies involving structural biology, drug discovery, and comparative physiology. While no formal awards are listed, her research demonstrates sustained engagement with critical topics in cellular and molecular biology.
