Jennifer A. Lewis is the Hansjörg Wyss Professor of Biologically Inspired Engineering at Harvard University's John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. She is also a Core Faculty member at the Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering. Her research focuses on programmable assembly of soft functional, structural, and biological materials, with applications in 3D printing, bioprinting, soft robotics, and metamaterials.
She holds a Sc.D. in Ceramic Science from MIT and has pioneered breakthroughs like biomimetic 4D printing and vascularized organ-on-chip technologies. Her work has been recognized by MIT Technology Review and Discover Magazine.
- Awards: Member of the National Academy of Engineering, NSF Presidential Faculty Fellow, and multiple society fellowships.
- Publications: Over 150 papers and 30 patents, with articles in Advanced Materials, Nature Materials, and Science Advances.
- Industry: Co-founder of two companies commercializing lab technologies, including Reel Foods for cultivated fish fillets.
