Dr. Jennie Morgan is a Senior Lecturer in Heritage within the Department of History at the University of Stirling, where she also serves as Programme Director of the MSc Heritage. As a member of the History, Heritage and Politics division, she contributes to the University's Cultural Heritage Programme and the Centre for Environment, Heritage, and Policy.
Trained as a Social Anthropologist with a PhD from Manchester, Dr. Morgan's research focuses on museum practice and theory, organizational change, everyday work practices, heritage futures, and socially-relevant museology. Her work often employs ethnographic methodologies including short-term, visual, sensory, collaborative, and creative research approaches.
Dr. Morgan's research portfolio includes a Royal Society of Edinburgh funded collaboration exploring emotions in museum work, a project on object collections in built heritage organizations, and participation in the AHRC funded Heritage Futures research programme. Her work examines the dynamics of museological change, professional identity, and the 'hidden' elements of organizational life in heritage institutions.
Among her notable contributions are publications examining the legacy of museum refurbishment projects, contemporary collecting practices, and the emotional dimensions of museum work. Her research has been presented at numerous international conferences including the Association of Critical Heritage Studies and Social History Curators Group events.
