معرفی
Jenni Hultman is an Academy Research Fellow at the University of Helsinki's Department of Microbiology, where she leads research on Arctic microbial ecology. She holds a PhD (2009) and Master's (2004) in Environmental Ecology from the same institution. Her work focuses on climate change impacts on microbial communities in extreme environments.
Research Interests:
Dr. Hultman specializes in microbial responses to environmental changes, with emphasis on:
- Arctic soil microbiomes and permafrost ecosystems
- Metagenomic analysis of microbial and viral communities
- Fungal dynamics in boreal and tundra soils
- Biogeochemical cycling in changing climates
Recent Research Trends:
Her 2024-2025 publications demonstrate a focus on climate-driven microbial processes in Arctic environments, including carbon cycling in thawing permafrost, metal bioremediation mechanisms, viral ecology in tundra soils, and airborne fungal distribution patterns. Her work combines field studies with advanced molecular techniques.
Academic Leadership:
- Supervisor for four doctoral programs: Geosciences, Sustainable Use of Renewable Natural Resources, Interdisciplinary Environmental Sciences, and Microbiology and Biotechnology
- Principal Investigator for Academy of Finland projects on Arctic microbial communities
- Regular participant in international microbiology conferences
Affiliations:
Member of the Institute of Sustainability Science (HELSUS), focusing on ecological impacts of climate change.
