Jenna Ng

Professor Jenna Ng is the Subject Head of Creative Technologies and Professor of Digital Media and Culture at the University of York's School of Arts and Creative Technologies. She holds a PhD from University College London and has held research positions at institutions including Cambridge University and Umeå University. Her academic roles include overseeing strategic development in Interactive Media, Digital Culture, and Music Technology, managing 19 staff members, and leading departmental initiatives like the Research Ethics Committee and the MA Digital Media and Culture program.

Her research focuses on digital media and culture, with expertise in AI/algorithmic culture, interactive storytelling, and post-screen theories. She advocates for practice-based research methods, producing outputs like the award-winning Virtuality project. She has delivered over 25 global keynote lectures and served as a juror for festivals like the Milan Machinima Festival.

Ng's awards include the BAFTSS Honourable Mention, Learning on Screen Special Jury Prize, and multiple University of York Excellence Awards. She has supervised numerous graduate students and led successful grant-funded projects such as the AHRC-funded 'Pararchive' initiative.
