Jenna Lowe is an Instructor in the Faculty of Education at the University of Lethbridge. She transitioned to academia in 2016 after 14 years as a high school English Language Arts teacher in rural settings, with additional experience teaching visual art, drama, film studies, and media. Her academic philosophy emphasizes arts-based practices and multi-modal literacy education, focusing on empowering pre-service teachers through creative pedagogical approaches.

Her research focuses on culturally sustaining pedagogies via creative re-storying and transmediation, supported by doctoral supervisor Dr. Kimberly Lenters. She teaches courses on curriculum design, evaluation, language in education, and practicum supervision. Notable courses include tEDUC 4850: Culturally Sustaining Pedagogies in Literacy-Rich Spaces (upcoming Spring 2024).
Awards include her B.Ed. Distinction and Dean's List recognition. Her advising and grant work includes supervising field experiences and leading collaborative research projects on blended learning and arts integration. She is actively involved in the Collaboratory of Practice initiative and explores technology-enhanced multiliteracies.
