Jenna Gibbs is an Associate Professor in the Department of History at Florida International University's Green School. Her research explores intersections of culture, politics, religion, and imperial expansion during the long eighteenth century, with a focus on transatlantic slavery debates and performance studies.
Her scholarly work includes:
- Leading publications: Examines Anglophone transatlantic slavery discourses in theater (Performing the Temple of Liberty), global Protestant networks, and the international perspective of slavery representation around 1800
- Current research: Traces the Moravian Latrobe family's imperial and missionary activities across four continents
Research focus areas:
