Professor Carol E. Harrison is a historian at the University of South Carolina's Department of History, affiliated with the McCausland College of Arts and Sciences. She holds a D.Phil. from Oxford University and a B.A. from Louisiana State University. Her research focuses on transnational religious and gender histories, particularly in 19th-century France and global Catholicism. She has authored influential books like Romantic Catholics and Zouave Theaters, exploring topics ranging from Catholic modernity to transnational military fashion. Currently, she is a Guggenheim Fellow and NEH Rome Prize winner conducting research at the American Academy in Rome.
