Jenette Smith, Ed.D., DipACLM, M.S., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Education and Leadership at Clarkson College. She holds leadership roles including serving on the Clarkson College Alumni Board of Directors as Vice President and contributing to committees such as the Interprofessional Education Committee. Her academic background includes a Doctor of Education from Clarkson College, a Doctoral Diplomate in Lifestyle Medicine, and a Master of Science in Health Education from the University of North Texas. Dr. Smith has over 35 years of experience in advocacy for individuals with disabilities, Alzheimer’s patients, and the elderly, alongside nonprofit board service.
Dr. Smith’s research focuses on healthcare education innovation, inclusive pedagogy, organizational conflict resolution, and interprofessional leadership. She teaches courses such as Managing Organizational Conflict and Leading through Change and Disruption, and has published extensively on topics like nursing faculty shortages, public health burnout, and diabetes policy. Her work integrates cultural competence and disability inclusion into healthcare education frameworks.
Notable achievements include the 2024 nomination for the Dr. Patricia Book Perry Faculty of the Year Award and the establishment of the Dr. Jenette Smith Endowed Scholarship for EdD students. Dr. Smith’s professional development includes certifications in conflict management and negotiation from Harvard Law School’s Program on Negotiation (2023–2024).
In addition to her academic roles, she chairs doctoral dissertations and serves on comprehensive examination committees. Her community contributions include fundraising for IDD-focused nonprofits and presenting at national forums on topics such as imposter syndrome in academia and healthcare resilience.
