Jen Peterson is the Department Chair and Term Associate Professor of Psychology at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, College of Liberal Arts. She specializes in age-related changes in cognitive and behavioral flexibility, with interdisciplinary research linking nature exposure to mental and physical health improvements.
Educational Background:
- MS in Experimental Psychology, Emporia State University
- MS and PhD in Experimental Psychology (emphasis in Behavioral Neuroscience), Texas Christian University
Dr. Peterson leads two research labs: the FlexCog Lab (studying healthy aging and decision-making in Interior Alaska) and the Nature Lab (exploring environment-health connections). Her work integrates cognitive aging research with environmental psychology, focusing on regional challenges like dynamic light cycles in Alaska.
