Professor Jemila Seid Hamid is a Full Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Ottawa, with a cross-appointment at the School of Epidemiology and Public Health. She holds an affiliate investigator position at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) research institute. Her expertise spans both methodological and applied research in statistics, with a focus on health-related applications.
Professor Hamid earned a PhD and MSc in Mathematical Statistics, alongside an undergraduate degree in Statistics & Computer Science. Her research encompasses multivariate methods, longitudinal data analysis, interrupted time series analysis, high-dimensional data integration, and meta-analysis.
Her applied work addresses diverse clinical challenges, leveraging advanced statistical techniques and computational tools. She has supervised numerous graduate students in Statistics, Biostatistics, and Health Research Methodology, while also mentoring medical residents and clinical fellows.
Affiliated with CHEO, her interdisciplinary collaborations bridge statistical innovation with real-world health outcomes. Her contributions span statistical theory and practical applications across public health and clinical domains.
