Dr. Jelena Pavlović is a Senior Research Associate at the University of Belgrade's Institute for Multidisciplinary Research, Department of Plant, Soil and Nano Systems. She holds a Doctor of Biological Sciences degree (2017) from the Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade, with a dissertation focused on the physiological and molecular mechanisms of plant nutrition.
- Education: Doctor of Biological Sciences (2017), Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade (Mentor: Dr. Miroslav Nikolović)
- Current Role: Research Associate (2018-present) in the Plant Nutrition Group
Her research specializes in the role of silicon in plant nutrition, particularly silicon-mediated alleviation of abiotic stress and iron deficiency. Key areas include molecular mechanisms of nutrient transport, elemental analysis using ICP-OES and UV-Vis spectroscopy, and plant-soil interactions in marginal agricultural environments. She has contributed to studies on silicon's effects on metal binding and transition metal dynamics in xylem solutions.
Scientific awards include a selected oral presentation at the 17th International Symposium on Iron Nutrition and Interactions (2014). She serves as a reviewer for international journals like Plant and Soil, Biologia-Springer, and Food Chemistry, and is a member of the International Society for Silicon in Agriculture (ISSAG) since 2017. Her work has been supported by Serbian Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development grants.
