Dr. Jelena Jovanović is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Industrial Management, Faculty of Technical Sciences in Čačak, University of Kragujevac, Serbia. With a PhD in Mechanical Engineering specializing in Industrial Engineering, she has established herself as a prominent academic in the field of production management and industrial engineering. Her academic journey began at the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Engineering, University of Belgrade, leading to doctoral studies at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, where she defended her thesis on "Research on the Process of Managing the Production Cycle of a Complex Product" in 2015.
Dr. Jovanović completed her elementary and secondary education in Čačak, specializing in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Automation. She earned her MSc in 2006 from the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Engineering, University of Belgrade, and her PhD in 2015 from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Belgrade. Her academic career spans from 2006 when she began as a professional associate at the College of Technical Studies in Čačak, progressing to her current position as Assistant Professor since 2025.
Dr. Jovanović's research focuses on Industrial Engineering, particularly in production cycle management, manufacturing systems optimization, and engineering management. Her work addresses critical challenges in production planning, process optimization, and resource management within complex manufacturing environments. She has made significant contributions to understanding the time and economic dimensions of production cycles, machine capacity utilization, and the application of advanced planning techniques in manufacturing systems. Her research bridges theoretical frameworks with practical applications, providing valuable insights for both academic and industrial communities in the field of industrial engineering.
Her extensive publication record demonstrates a consistent focus on production cycle management, with recent work expanding into digitalization of production engineering, business-manufacturing systems modeling, and optimization processes. The research shows an evolution from foundational work on production cycle design to more sophisticated analyses incorporating economic dimensions, machine capacity utilization, and modern optimization techniques. Her work consistently addresses practical challenges in manufacturing while applying rigorous methodological approaches from industrial engineering and operations research.
Dr. Jovanović has been actively involved in academic leadership and professional development. Since 2010, she has co-founded and managed the Production Engineering and Engineering Management Department at "Sloboda" in Čačak. In 2020, she led the project "Digitalization of the Cabinet for Production Engineering to Develop Students' Entrepreneurial Competencies," funded by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of Serbia. She has supervised numerous students and contributed significantly to curriculum development in industrial management and production engineering.
Dr. Jovanović is an active member of professional communities, having joined the International Association of Engineers (IAENG) in 2012 and the Association of Engineers and Technicians of Serbia (SITS) in 2021. She has collaborated extensively with industry partners, particularly with "Sloboda" company in Čačak, on projects related to capital assessment, experimental measurements, and production optimization. Her work demonstrates a strong commitment to bridging academic research with practical industrial applications.
