Jehanne Dubrow is a Distinguished Research Professor and Professor of Creative Writing at the University of North Texas. Born in Italy and raised globally due to her parents' diplomatic career, she holds a Ph.D. in English from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Her academic expertise spans creative writing, poetry, and trauma studies, with a focus on military spouse narratives, Holocaust studies, and sensory exploration.
Her extensive body of work includes ten poetry collections, three creative nonfiction books, and co-edited anthologies. Notable publications include Civilians (2025), Exhibitions: Essays on Art & Atrocity (2023), and Taste: A Book of Small Bites (2022). She is the Series Editor for the “Writing From Trauma” series at University of New Mexico Press, emphasizing trauma representation in literature.
Dr. Dubrow has been honored with numerous awards, including the Alice Fay Di Castagnola Award and the Adrienne Rich Award. She regularly lectures at institutions like the U.S. Naval Academy and the Holocaust Memorial Museum, advocating for interdisciplinary dialogue between military, civilian, and academic communities.
Her research explores intersections of power, memory, and art, with recent projects on frivolity in culture and collaborations in perfume and design. She serves as a Consulting Editor for Fourth Genre and actively promotes creative writing through workshops and public speaking.
