Jeffrey Thayer is a Research Professor and Professor Emeritus at the University of Colorado Boulder, where he serves as Director of the Space Weather Technology, Research and Education Center (SWx-TREC) and the Colorado Center for Astrodynamics Research (CCAR). He also holds the role of Chief Technology Officer at ASTRALiTe LLC. His academic journey includes a PhD in Atmospheric and Space Science (University of Michigan, 1990), an MS in Atmospheric Science (1986), and a BS in Meteorology from SUNY Oneonta (1984).
His research focuses on remote sensing techniques for the atmosphere and ionosphere, optical systems design, and geophysical fluid dynamics. He has held leadership roles such as Associate Chair for Undergraduate Affairs and Director of CCAR, reflecting his commitment to education and institutional service.
