Jeffrey T. Checkel

Jeffrey T. Checkel is a Professor of International Studies and holds the Simons Chair in International Law and Human Security at Simon Fraser University, Vancouver. He previously served as a visiting researcher at the WZB (Social Science Research Center Berlin) within its Global Governance research department from March to April 2014. His research focuses on themes such as socialization processes and organized political violence, spanning interstate conflicts to civil wars and beyond.

During his WZB visit, he collaborated on the "Contested World Orders" project funded by the Leibniz Association. His academic work bridges theoretical insights with empirical analyses of international relations, institutional socialization, and security studies.
