Jeffrey Roland is an Associate Professor of Philosophy and Chair of the Philosophy Undergraduate Studies Committee at Louisiana State University (LSU). His research focuses on philosophy of mathematics, epistemology, and philosophy of science, particularly exploring philosophical naturalism and mathematical realism. He holds a B.A. in Philosophy and Mathematics from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities (1996), and both an M.A. (2000) and Ph.D. in Philosophy with a concentration in Mathematics from Cornell University (2005).
His teaching includes courses such as Introduction to Logic, Symbolic Logic I & II, Advanced Logic, Epistemology, and Philosophy of Language. Roland has received multiple accolades, including the Manship Summer Research Fellowship (2012, 2013), the Robert Udick Distinguished Undergraduate Teaching Award (2007), and grants supporting his research.
His publications engage deeply with figures like Quine, Kitcher, and Maddy, addressing themes like naturalism's role in epistemology and the justification of mathematical realism. His work often intersects with debates on scientific methodology and the philosophical foundations of mathematics.
