Jeffrey Noel is a Research Assistant Professor at the Missouri Institute of Mental Health (MIMH), affiliated with the Department of Psychological Sciences at the University of Missouri–St. Louis (UMSL). His work focuses on understanding and mitigating youth and young adult risk behaviors through social-cognitive, situational, and cultural analyses.

Dr. Noel directs the Social Cognition and Alcohol Studies Lab, established in 2012. His research explores alcohol outcome expectancies, implicit attitudes, and the impact of emotional/social contexts on alcohol-related behaviors. He also conducts psychometric evaluations of implicit alcohol attitude assessments.
His recent publications emphasize situational triggers for alcohol consumption, evaluative conditioning of implicit attitudes, and behavioral responses to alcohol cues. These works intersect psychology, neuroscience, and public health.
Dr. Noel has extensive experience in program evaluation, notably leading the Girls Holla Back! initiative for substance abuse and HIV prevention in African American girls and caregivers for over a decade.
