Jeffrey Michael is an Assistant Scientist at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Department of Health Policy and Management. He is affiliated with the Johns Hopkins Center for Injury Research and Policy and holds the Leon S. Robertson Faculty Development Chair in Injury Prevention (2019–2022). As Coordinator of the New Mobility Initiative, he leads research on equitable and safe mobility technologies.

Dr. Michael's research centers on transportation safety, injury prevention, and health equity. His work explores how emerging technologies—such as autonomous vehicles, e-scooters, and shared mobility—can be harnessed to reduce traffic fatalities and improve access to healthcare and economic opportunities, especially for underserved populations. He emphasizes policy development and scientific evidence to guide equitable deployment of new mobility systems.
His recent publications highlight trends in transportation equity, teen driving safety, autonomous vehicle policy, and the intersection of sleep science and driving safety. These works appear in journals like Health Equity, Injury Prevention, and Sleep, reflecting a multidisciplinary approach to public health and transportation.
