Jeffrey Levin is a Professor in the Department of Occupational Medicine at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler. He holds leadership roles including Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost, and previously served as Dean of the School of Community Health and Health Professions. His affiliations include the NIOSH Southwest Center for Agricultural Health, Texas Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (TIOSH®), and the Texas Medical Association.
Education: BA in Biology (Austin College, 1979), MD (University of Texas Medical School at San Antonio, 1983), Residency in Internal Medicine (University of Missouri, 1986), Residency in Occupational Medicine (University of Kentucky, 1988), MSPH (University of Kentucky, 1988), and DrPH in Public Health (Texas A&M University, 2018).
Research focuses on occupational health, environmental health, and public health, with special emphasis on asbestos exposure, agricultural worker safety, and interventions for hard-to-reach communities. His articles address topics like occupational hazards, cohort studies, and community health strategies.
Notable awards include the Marcus Key Award (2013 and 2018) and distinguished professorships. He chairs key organizations like the American Board of Preventive Medicine and has led initiatives in rural health and occupational safety.
