Dalia Nessim

Dalia Nessim is an Assistant Professor and Interim Department Chair of Occupational and Environmental Medicine in the School of Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler (UTHSCT), while also serving as Teaching Faculty in the Public Health department of the School of Health Professions. Board certified in occupational and environmental medicine, she joined UTHSCT in September 2014 and directs the Occupational and Environmental Medicine Residency Program.

Her educational background includes:

• M.D. from Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt
• Occupational medicine residency training and MPH Degree from UT Health Science Center in Houston, TX (completed June 2014)

Dr. Nessim's research centers on building healthy work environments for rural and vulnerable populations, with expertise spanning occupational health systems, environmental risk mitigation, and health equity in underserved communities. Her work bridges clinical practice with public health policy to address workplace safety challenges in resource-limited settings.

She has received the following honors:

• Fellow of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (FACOEM)

As a dedicated educator, Dr. Nessim supervises residents and MPH students in research projects, Capstone, and Practicum experiences while serving as a resident preceptor at the Occupational Health Clinic (an AOEC clinic) and Eastman Chemical Company. She actively contributes to UTHSCT councils and committees.

Her clinical work integrates with community partnerships through the Occupational Health Clinic and Eastman Chemical Company engagement, focusing on practical implementation of occupational health standards in industrial and rural settings.
