Dr. Jeffrey Ishizuka is an Assistant Professor at Yale School of Medicine, holding joint appointments in Immunobiology, Pathology, and Medicine. He specializes in medical oncology, treating melanoma patients at Smilow Cancer Hospital. His research focuses on the tumor-immune microenvironment and strategies to manipulate inflammation to enhance cancer immunotherapies. Dr. Ishizuka earned his MD from Harvard Medical School and a DPhil in Immunology from Oxford University.
- Appointments: Primary: Medical Oncology and Hematology; Secondary: Immunobiology, Pathology
- Education: MD (Harvard), DPhil (Oxford), BA (Williams College)
Research interests include dsRNA signaling pathways, combination immunotherapy development, and tumor microenvironment characterization. His lab employs in vitro, in vivo, and computational methods. Collaborators include Harriet Kluger, James Clune, and Mario Sznol. Recent work addresses treatment resistance and clinical outcomes in melanoma patients undergoing immunotherapy.
Key projects involve targeting innate immune checkpoints and leveraging anti-viral responses to improve therapy efficacy. He leads the Ishizuka Lab, which aims to translate biological insights into clinical applications.
