Jeffrey Huntsinger is an Associate Professor and Department Chair of Psychology at Loyola University Chicago. His research focuses on the flexible influence of affective feelings on cognition, judgment, and social behavior.
- Ph.D. in Social Psychology, University of Virginia (2007)
- M.A. in Social Psychology, University of Virginia (2003)
- B.A. in Psychology, Pennsylvania State University (1999)
His theoretical work challenges the traditional view of fixed links between emotion and cognition, proposing instead that affect acts as feedback to dynamically regulate mental processes. Research spans stereotype activation, group decision-making, and moral foundations in health behaviors.
Recent publications highlight trends in affective feedback, vaccine hesitancy, historical psychology, and emotion's role in decision-making. He co-organizes large-scale replicability projects like Many Labs 2 and directs the ESC Lab, which investigates affective regulation of thought and judgment.
Teaching includes courses on social psychology and gender differences. Contact: jhuntsinger@luc.edu | Office: 120 Coffey Hall.
