Jeffery Osborne

Jeffery R. Osborne is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Criminal Justice at San Diego State University (SDSU), affiliated with the College of Professional Studies and Fine Arts. He holds a PhD in Criminal Justice from the City University of New York (CUNY) Graduate Center, an MA in Forensic Psychology from John Jay College of Criminal Justice, and a BA in Psychology from UC San Diego. His research focuses on violent crime analysis, offender profiling, active shooter incidents, and deception detection in criminal investigations. Osborne has collaborated extensively with the FBI Behavioral Science Unit and serves as Principal Investigator for SDSU’s Seed Grant-funded Active Shooter Incident Database project.

Teaching responsibilities include courses such as Crime, Law, & Justice and Contemporary Issues in Law Enforcement at SDSU Imperial Valley. He has held academic roles at Marist College and John Jay College, managing research projects on investigative psychology and forensic methodologies. Osborne is a member of the American Society of Criminology, Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences, and Homicide Research Working Group (HRWG), contributing to conference proceedings and peer-reviewed journals. His scholarly awards include a 6-year doctoral fellowship and recognition for undergraduate research.
