Jeff W. Meeusen

Jeff W. Meeusen, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and a Consultant in the Division of Clinical Core Laboratory Services in Rochester, Minnesota. He also serves as the Assistant Program Director for the Clinical Chemistry Fellowship Program.

Research Focus: Dr. Meeusen’s research advances laboratory medicine through the development of novel diagnostic assays and technologies. His primary interests include cardiovascular and metabolic biomarkers, with a strong emphasis on lipids and lipoproteins. He investigates how these molecules drive atherosclerosis and other chronic conditions, aiming to uncover new biomarkers and therapeutic targets. Additional projects center on refining calculated laboratory values—such as low-density lipoprotein cholesterol and estimated glomerular filtration rate—to improve clinical accuracy without added patient burden. He also explores remote laboratory collection techniques to enhance accessibility and convenience of diagnostic testing.

Leadership & Service: Since 2022 Dr. Meeusen has been Assistant Program Director of the Clinical Chemistry Fellowship Program. He chairs the ADLM (formerly AACC) Cardiovascular Division (2025), serves on the Commission on Accreditation in Clinical Chemistry (ComACC) Board of Commissioners (2024–2029), and holds treasurer and leadership roles within the Midwest Section of the AACC and the Society for Young Clinical Laboratorians.
