Jeff Hallam is a Professor and Interim Associate Dean for Research in the College of Public Health at Kent State University, where he has been since July 2013. He is affiliated with the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences and holds a Ph.D. in Health Promotion & Education from The Ohio State University.
His educational background includes:

Dr. Hallam's research centers on the validation of health behavior interventions, particularly those promoting physical activity. He employs community-based participatory research methods and investigates how built environments and public policy shape physical activity levels. His work emphasizes the development and testing of tools to measure theoretical constructs in health promotion.
His funded research has been supported by prominent organizations including the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Active Living Research, U.S. Department of Education, NCAA, Anheuser-Busch, National Center for Safe Routes to School, Mississippi Department of Transportation, the Community Foundation of Northwest Mississippi, and the James C. Kennedy Foundation.
Dr. Hallam is actively involved in professional leadership, serving on the board of the Akron Division of the American Heart Association, as an elected member of the Executive Board of the American Public Health Association, and as the Immediate Past-President of the American Academy of Health Behavior.
He has previously held faculty positions at The University of Mississippi, where he was Professor and Director of the Center for Health Behavior Research, as well as at Baylor University and The Ohio State University.
