Dr. Jeff Gish serves as Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship within the Department of Management at the University of Central Florida. His research bridges entrepreneurship and organizational behavior with particular emphasis on psychological resource dynamics in entrepreneurial contexts.
His educational background includes a Ph.D. in Management from the University of Oregon's Lundquist College of Business, complemented by a Master of Engineering and Technology Management and B.A. in Social Sciences from Washington State University.
Research focuses on entrepreneurial well-being, examining resource depletion/recovery cycles, psychological resilience mechanisms, and the impact of sleep on venture performance. His work explores organizational culture development in startups, social movement influences on entrepreneurial activity, and individual-level crowdfunding dynamics. Recent publications reveal a pronounced trend toward sleep science applications in entrepreneurship, with 7 of 15 recent articles (2019-2022) investigating circadian impacts on decision-making and innovation.
His research appears in premier journals including Journal of Business Venturing, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, and Journal of Management, with coverage in Harvard Business Review, The Wall Street Journal, and Forbes. Gish currently serves as Associate Editor for Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice and sits on the editorial review board of Journal of Business Venturing.
Prior to academia, Gish founded multiple ventures with successful exits and maintains active roles as startup investor and advisor. A native Alaskan, he resides in Florida with his wife and three children.
