Jeewon Oh is an Assistant Professor in the Psychology Department at Syracuse University, affiliated with the College of Arts & Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. in Social/Personality Psychology from Michigan State University (2022), an M.A. from the same institution (2019), and a B.A. in Biopsychology, Cognition & Neuroscience from the University of Michigan (2017).
Her research focuses on positivity in close relationships and singlehood, examining predictors of relational and individual well-being through a lifespan development lens. Specific interests include singlehood satisfaction trajectories, obligation dynamics in relationships, and the role of optimism/pessimism in health outcomes. Methodologically, she leverages large-scale datasets to address questions about long-term psychological changes.
Recent work explores asexual individuals’ well-being, pandemic-related resilience, and cultural variations in gratitude. Articles highlight themes like pet ownership’s mental health benefits, marital status disparities in loneliness, and bidirectional influences between singlehood and life satisfaction. Teaching responsibilities include advanced social psychology, personality courses, and research methods.
