Jeesoo Nam is an Associate Professor of Law and Philosophy at the USC Gould School of Law, University of Southern California. Her research bridges legal and philosophical scholarship, focusing on taxation, ethics, and social policy. She previously served as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Tax Law at New York University and practiced tax law at Latham & Watkins in Los Angeles. She holds a JD from Yale Law School and a BA in Economics (highest distinction, Phi Beta Kappa) from Duke University.
Her research interests include taxation policy, addiction ethics, criminal law intersections, and biomedical ethics. She has published in leading law reviews and philosophy journals, including Tax Law Review, Arizona State Law Journal, and Bioethics. Her work Taxing Option Luck (2021) received the Felix S. Cohen Prize in Legal Philosophy.
Her articles explore themes like equitable taxation frameworks, moral responsibility in addiction, and the philosophical underpinnings of statutory interpretation. She has also written on biomedical enhancements as tools for justice, reflecting her interdisciplinary approach.
