Kevin Tobia is Professor of Law and Philosophy at Georgetown University, teaching Legislation, Torts, Foundations of American Legal Thought, and Legal Philosophy. He holds a Ph.D. in philosophy and J.D. from Yale, an Oxford B.Phil., and a Rutgers B.A. in Philosophy, Mathematics, and Cognitive Science.
Research explores experimental jurisprudence, legal interpretation, psychology of law, and AI in adjudication. Key interests include ordinary meaning theory, textualism, behavioral approaches to legal concepts, and human-AI interaction in judicial systems.
Publications demonstrate innovations in empirical legal studies, combining corpus linguistics, experimental surveys, and theoretical analysis to examine statutory interpretation. Recent work investigates public perceptions of legal language and algorithmic justice.
