Jeannine KASSIS is a Full Professor at the Faculty of Medicine within the Department of Medicine at Université de Montréal. She holds affiliations with the Centre de recherche de l'Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont (CRHMR) and the CIUSSS de l'Est-de-l'Île-de-Montréal – Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont (HMR). Her research focuses on thrombosis, anticoagulant therapy, and clinical trials, particularly in venous thromboembolism prevention and pharmacological interventions.
Research Expertise:
- Investigation of thrombophilic risk factors in patients with antiphospholipid antibodies (with or without systemic lupus erythematosus)
- Prevention, treatment, and post-phlebitic complications of venous thromboembolism
- Pharmacological studies on antithrombotic agents (low-molecular-weight heparin, antithrombins, oral Factor Xa inhibitors)
- Clinical trials on acute myeloid leukemia through the NCIC (National Cancer Institute of Canada)
Key Projects:
- CanVECTOR (2020–present): Canadian Venous Thromboembolism Clinical Trials and Outcomes Research Network (IRSC-funded, led by Susan Kahn)
- Pharmacogenetic Study of Warfarin (2009–2014): IRSC-funded project analyzing warfarin metabolism (co-led with Marie-Pierre Dubé and others)
She has supervised at least one Master’s thesis: Étude de prévention de la thrombose veineuse associée au cathéter veineux central de type PICC chez les patients en oncologie recevant une chimiothérapie (Nguyen, Doan-Trang, 2009).
