معرفی
Jeanne Hendrickson, MD is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Laboratory Medicine at Yale School of Medicine. She is a pediatric hematologist and transfusion medicine specialist with clinical appointments in the Blood Bank, Cancer Immunology, and Yale Center for Immuno-Oncology. Dr. Hendrickson also contributes to the Yale Cooperative Center of Excellence in Hematology (YCCEH), where she participates in research and educational initiatives focused on hematology and transfusion medicine.
- Medical Doctorate (MD) from Emory University School of Medicine (1999)
- Bachelor of Science (BS) from University of North Carolina @ Chapel Hill (1994)
- Residency in Pediatrics at Emory University School of Medicine (2002)
- Fellowships in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology at Emory University School of Medicine (2007-2008)
Dr. Hendrickson's research program centers on clinically relevant issues in transfusion medicine, with a particular emphasis on red blood cell alloimmunization. Her laboratory investigates the induction and consequences of red blood cell alloantibodies in transfusion and pregnancy situations using both murine models and clinical settings. She has developed significant expertise in sickle cell disease transfusion management, examining how to optimize transfusion protocols for patients with this condition and studying immune responses to vaccines in this vulnerable population. Her work bridges basic science investigations with direct clinical applications, making important contributions to patient care in transfusion medicine.
An analysis of Dr. Hendrickson's publication record from 2023-2025 reveals a sophisticated research trajectory spanning from fundamental immunological mechanisms of antibody formation to practical clinical applications. Her work addresses critical challenges in transfusion medicine including managing alloimmunization in sickle cell disease, optimizing stem cell collection protocols, developing safety tools for pediatric transfusion, and understanding transfusion effects in vulnerable populations like preterm infants. This research demonstrates both scientific depth and clinical relevance, with publications appearing in high-impact journals across hematology, transfusion medicine, and immunology.
Dr. Hendrickson maintains active collaborations with numerous colleagues at Yale and other institutions, including Christopher Tormey, MD (with whom she has 15 co-authored publications), Ronald George Hauser III, MD, and Oliver Karam, MD, PhD. Her research program is well-integrated with clinical practice and educational initiatives at Yale School of Medicine, where she contributes to the training of future physicians and scientists in transfusion medicine and hematology.
