Jeanette Cooper is a Researcher and Co-Director of the CRF at Cal Poly Humboldt's Department of Anthropology. She holds a multidisciplinary background in History, Anthropology, Art History, and three foreign languages. With over 25 years of experience, she combines academic research with Cultural Resource Management roles.
- Educations: Alumnus of Humboldt State University (now Cal Poly Humboldt), specializing in History, Anthropology, and Art History.
Research Interests: Focuses on Mediterranean archaeology (Sicily, Greek colonialism), Northwest Coast Indigenous cultures, and Humboldt County historical studies through a post-colonial lens. Expertise includes ceramic analysis of Sicilian and Greek artifacts.
Professional Roles: Cultural Resources Manager experienced in NHPA, NEPA, and CEQA compliance. Conducted architectural evaluations and National Register assessments in Humboldt County. Maintains active fieldwork in California, Sicily, Northwest England, and Central Anatolia.
- Awards: Registered Professional Archaeologist (#5781).
Teaching & Leadership: Taught at University at Buffalo, Temple University, San Francisco State University, and Whitman College. Courses span archaeology, material culture, cultural resource management, and historical topics. Serves as Co-Director of the CRF laboratory.
