Dr Jeanette Berman OAM is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the School of Education at the University of New England (UNE). She has dedicated her career to advancing equitable and inclusive education, particularly through her research on child-centered learning and sustainable educational practices. Her work emphasizes providing tailored support for all students, regardless of their background or needs. Dr Berman holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Mathematics from UNE, with strong family ties to the institution, including her grandfather as the founding Dean of Arts.
Professional highlights include roles as a school psychologist in NSW, Program Director of Educational Psychology at Massey University (2013–2016), and Honorary Associate Professor at the University of Melbourne (2016–2017). She has authored influential books such as Sustainable Learning and Learning Intervention, and is currently preparing Responsive Teaching for Sustainable Learning. Her advocacy for educational equity extends globally, including upcoming work in Ecuador.
Dr Berman’s awards include the Order of Australia Medal (OAM) for Services to Education, recognizing her contributions to systemic improvements in educational outcomes. She remains active in supervising PhD students and serves on professional bodies like the Australian Psychological Society and the Association for Cognitive Education and Psychology.
