Sheri Berman is a Professor of Political Science at Barnard College, Columbia University. Her research focuses on European political history, democracy development, populism, fascism, and the evolution of left-wing movements. She is the author of Democracy and Dictatorship in Europe: From the Ancien Regime to the Present Day (2019) and has contributed to prominent journals and media outlets like Foreign Policy and The Washington Post. Berman serves on the boards of the Journal of Democracy, Dissent, and Political Science Quarterly. Her work emphasizes the interplay between historical context and contemporary political challenges, particularly the resilience of democracies amid crises.
