Dr. Jean de Pomereu is a Marie Curie Research Fellow at the Scott Polar Research Institute (SPRI), Department of Geography, University of Cambridge. Collaborating with Prof. Richard Powell, his work bridges historical geography, polar studies, and visual/material culture of Antarctica. He holds a PhD from the University of Exeter (2015), an MPhil in Polar Studies from Cambridge (2004), and a Graduate Certificate in Antarctic Studies from the University of Canterbury (2003).

His research focuses on the scientific and political history of Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets, examining their transformation into global climate change symbols. He also investigates Antarctic visual culture through photography, drawing, and scientific imagery. Current projects include ICEglobe, analyzing cross-ice sheet knowledge production and geopolitical implications.
Externally, he contributes to Quantarctica's editorial team, participates in SCAR's Humanities & Social Sciences group, and engages in polar education initiatives. His work with Salto Ulbeek Publishers on historical Antarctic photography archives highlights his interdisciplinary approach.
