Professor Eric Wolff is a Royal Society Research Professor in the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Cambridge. His research focuses on palaeoclimate reconstructions from polar ice cores, particularly in Antarctica and Greenland, to study past climate and environmental changes over hundreds of thousands of years.
- Current research areas include glacial cycle dynamics, interglacial climate stability, and the role of the West Antarctic Ice Sheet in sea level rise through the WACSWAIN project (funded by an ERC Advanced Grant in 2017).
- He investigates proxies for sea ice, volcanic eruption records in ice cores, polar atmospheric chemistry, and the search for the oldest ice through the European 'Beyond EPICA - Oldest Ice' project.
- Contact: ew428@cam.ac.uk | Location: S202, Earth Sciences, Downing Site, Cambridge, CB2 3EQ
His work involves collaborations with the British Antarctic Survey and international colleagues, leveraging advanced analytical techniques such as ice core isotope analysis, trace element detection, and gas composition studies.
