Jean-Yves Bigot

Jean-Yves Bigot was a Research Director at CNRS (France) and Associate Professor at EWHA University (Seoul, South Korea). He served as Deputy Director of IPCMS and Director of the Laboratory of Excellence NIE. His research focused on ultrafast phenomena in condensed matter, magnetization dynamics, and nonlinear optics. He earned his PhD (1984) and Habilitation (1987) from University Louis Pasteur in Strasbourg.

Major contributions include pioneering work on ultrafast magnetization dynamics and femtosecond laser spectroscopy. He spent time at AT&T Bell Labs (USA) and Lawrence Berkeley National Lab. Awards include the CNRS Silver Medal (2008) and L. Ancel Award (2000). He led ERC Advanced Grant ATOMAG and directed NIE/UNION excellence programs. His teaching included master classes in nonlinear optics and light-matter interaction.
