Prof. Clara Saraceno is a Full Professor at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, Ruhr University Bochum, since 2020. Her research focuses on ultrafast laser technology, Terahertz (THz) generation, and high-power laser systems. She leads a vibrant international team and is affiliated with the Cluster of Excellence RESOLV and the Collaborative Research Center/Transregio MARIE. Notable awards include the Sofja Kovalevskaja Award and ERC Starting/Consolidator Grants. Her work advances femtosecond pulse compression, high-repetition-rate THz sources, and nonlinear optics, with applications in materials science and photonics.

Her lab develops high-average-power THz emitters and thin-disk amplifiers, achieving record peak powers and efficiencies.
