Professor Jean Sprackland is a Professor of Creative Writing at Manchester Metropolitan University. Her work spans poetry and non-fiction, with a focus on themes of place, landscape, and literary exploration. She has published five poetry collections, including Green Noise (2018) and Tilt (2008), which won the Costa Poetry Award. Her non-fiction works include These Silent Mansions (2020) and Strands (2012), the latter winning the Portico Prize for Non-Fiction.
Research & Impact: Her research emphasizes creative writing and non-fiction about place. She co-led the 'Engaging New Audiences with Public Poetry' project to broaden poetry's reach through performance and broadcast.
