Jean-Pierre Bazureau is a Full Professor at the Rennes Institute of Chemical Sciences (ISCR), University of Rennes 1, France, where he has been a key researcher since 2002. Research Interests:
Jean-Pierre Bazureau's research is centered on the development of bioactive molecules for therapeutic applications. His work spans medicinal chemistry, organic synthesis, and chemical biology. Key areas include:
- Inhibitors of Store Operated Calcium Entry (Orai1) for cancer therapy
- Mitochondrial ion channel inhibitors in oncology
- Protein kinase (PKs) inhibitors targeting Alzheimer’s disease and Down syndrome (via the Leucettine program)
- Fluorescence probes to study molecular mechanisms in cancer
- Microwave-assisted organic chemistry and scale-up processes
- Chemical tools derived from ionic liquids applied to organic synthesis
Scientific Output and Recognition:
With over 120 peer-reviewed publications, 28 invited talks, and 68 oral/keynote presentations, Bazureau is a recognized figure in synthetic and medicinal chemistry. He has authored six book chapters, holds five patents, and has supervised 19 Ph.D. students and 15 postdoctoral researchers.

He is an Editorial Advisory Board member for Pharmaceuticals (MDPI) and a scientific expert for national and international agencies (ANR, HCERES, EEC, etc.).

He maintains active international collaborations with researchers in Ivory Coast, Tunisia, Brest, Roscoff, Tours, and Rennes, focusing on drug discovery, biological evaluation, and platform development.
