Jean-Philippe Walhin is a Senior Lecturer in Exercise Physiology at the University of Bath's Department for Health. He holds a PhD in Human Physiology from the University of Bath and studied Biochemistry in Belgium.
His research examines the impact of physical activity and exercise on gene expression in adipose tissue and skeletal muscle, with focus on mechanisms maintaining health and reducing chronic disease risk. Current projects investigate metabolic and endocrine responses under diurnal conditions and nutritional strategies for optimizing health outcomes.
His research employs molecular approaches to understand how exercise influences metabolic function, adipose tissue biology, and inflammatory pathways in obesity and type II diabetes. Studies investigate nutrient timing, fasting interventions, and dietary composition effects on metabolic health.
