Dr. Jean Kelso Sandlin serves as Professor and Chair of the Communication Department within California Lutheran University's College of Arts and Sciences. She joined the faculty in 2007 following over two decades of professional experience in advertising, public relations, and journalism, including roles as creative director for a Pacific Northwest agency, staff positions at United Way and the Oregon Children's Foundation, and writing for the Times Picayune.
Her research expertise centers on strategic communication, public relations, advertising, campaign development, social media dynamics, authenticity, and creative methodologies. Notable scholarly contributions include award-winning research on social media apologies, recognized with the 2021 College of Arts and Sciences Dean's Award for Scholarship/Creative Work.
Dr. Sandlin's professional accolades include:
