Dr. Jean Evers is the Deputy Head of the Public Health, Sport and Wellbeing Division at the University of Chester, currently serving part-time. She holds a Senior Lecturer academic rank and has extensive experience in higher education since 2004, previously serving as Head of the Public Health and Well-being Department (2012–2022). Her career spans roles in NHS healthcare, including Ward Sister, Health Visitor, and nurse education. She is a registered nurse with certifications in prescribing and public health nursing.
Education:
- BSc Hons in Community Health Studies (Manchester Metropolitan University, 2002–2004)
- MSc in Education (University of Liverpool, 2004–2008)
- Professional Studies in Leadership and Management (University of Chester, 2011–2019)
Research Interests: Jean’s work focuses on qualitative methodologies, action research, staff development, and organizational culture. She has led funded projects with the Department of Health and Higher Education Academy, emphasizing interprofessional practice and public health education.
Professional Activities: Jean consults for institutions like the University of Surrey and Salford University. She also holds memberships in the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
Teaching & Supervision: She teaches undergraduate/postgraduate nursing, public health, and leadership. She supervises PhD, Doctorate, and MPH students.
