Jayson Iwen

Jayson Iwen is a Professor and Department Chair of Writing, Language & Literature at the University of Wisconsin-Superior, within the Writing | Interdisciplinary Studies school. He holds a Ph.D. in English from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (2002), an M.A. (1998), and a B.A. in English Literature (1996).

His research focuses on creative writing, poetry, and literary translation, particularly Arabic literature. Notable works include Roze & Blud (2020 Miller Williams Poetry Prize), Lighthouse for the Drowning (collaborative translation of Jawdat Fakhreddine), and Six Trips in Two Directions. His poetry and translations appear in journals like Cream City Review and World Literature Today.

Iwen’s awards include the Ruthanne Wiley Memorial Novella Contest and Emergency Press International Book Contest. He serves as Editor-in-Chief of the online journal New Theory.

His articles span experimental poetry, literary translation, and interdisciplinary studies, reflecting a commitment to innovative narrative forms and cross-cultural literary exchange.
