Jayne Krisjanous

Dr Jayne Krisjanous is an Associate Professor in the School of Marketing and International Business at Victoria University of Wellington. With an extensive background in healthcare as a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife, she brings unique interdisciplinary perspectives to her academic work in marketing, particularly in health services marketing and social marketing.

Dr Krisjanous holds a diverse educational background:

• BCA Honours (Marketing), MBA, and PhD from Victoria University of Wellington

Her research focuses on the intersection of marketing, healthcare, and social issues, with particular expertise in health services marketing, social marketing, consumer behavior, and tourism marketing. Dr Krisjanous has developed a distinctive research program examining how marketing principles apply to healthcare contexts, especially maternal health, pregnancy, and birth experiences. Her work often explores cultural and religious dimensions of consumption, including studies on halal maternity wear and Muslim consumer behavior.

Dr Krisjanous's recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on service marketing in healthcare contexts, with several papers examining birth experiences, maternal healthcare access, and the role of social media in healthcare decision-making. Her research employs diverse methodologies, from qualitative ethnographic approaches to conceptual frameworks development.

Dr Krisjanous is an active supervisor of graduate students, with three completed Master's theses and several ongoing PhD projects focused on healthcare marketing topics. Her supervision interests center on health and social marketing, particularly examining vulnerable populations and service inclusion.
