Jayne Knight is a Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Brighton’s Centre for Design History, focusing on popular photography history through the Kodak Museum Collection at the National Science and Media Museum. She holds a PhD from the University of Brighton (2024) and prior degrees from De Montfort University and the University of Essex.

Her research explores popular photography, design history, and material culture, with a focus on institutional narratives and visual archives. Recent work includes studies on 1970s/80s photography workshops, Kodak’s marketing to women, and PhD student support schemes. Knight also holds an external role as a Science Museum Group Research Associate (2025–present).
Her publications span museum curation, photographic techniques, and interdisciplinary research, emphasizing the social and cultural dimensions of photography. She regularly presents at conferences and workshops, including discussions on Kodak’s historical narratives and the evolving role of photography in museums.
