Jaymeni Patel

Jaymeni Patel, OD, FAAO, serves as Assistant Professor of Optometry and Assistant Dean for Community Based Education and International Programs at the Illinois College of Optometry (ICO). She joined ICO's faculty in 2017 after completing her residency in Primary Care and Ocular Disease there. Clinically, she works in the Illinois Eye Institute's Glaucoma Unit, Primary Care Clinic, and Urgent Care Service.

Dr. Patel earned her Doctor of Optometry from ICO (2016) and a Bachelor of Liberal Arts and Sciences in Biology and Psychology from the University of Illinois at Chicago (2012). Her special interests include Primary Eye Care, Ocular Disease Education, and Telemedicine applications in optometry.

Her research focuses on tele-optometric exam efficacy, patient satisfaction in remote care, and ocular disease management. Notable awards include the 2023 ASCO Rising Star Award and the 2016 Lawrence P. Feigenbaum Clinical Optometry Memorial Award.

Dr. Patel actively contributes to professional organizations including the American Optometric Association and American Academy of Optometry. Her work bridges clinical education, international programs, and innovative telehealth solutions in optometric care.
