Jaya Remond

Jaya Remond is a Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science (MPIWG) in Berlin, affiliated with the institute's research initiatives in historical studies of scientific practice. Her work focuses on the intersection of artistic knowledge transmission and material culture in early modern Europe.

Her research centers on Northern European art (1400–1700), particularly examining printed artists' manuals like Kunstbüchlein, artistic theory, print culture, and the migration of artists and objects. She investigates how artistic knowledge (geometry, perspective, human proportions) was codified in training books, exploring concepts of fantasia and ingenium in creative processes.
