Javier Ortega

Javier Ortega is a Professor of Economics at Kingston University London since January 2019 and a Visiting Senior Fellow at the European Institute of the London School of Economics. Previously, he held academic positions as an Associate Professor at the Toulouse School of Economics (1998-2008) and a Senior Lecturer at City, University of London. He has served in administrative roles including Associate Dean for Research and Interim Dean of the Faculty of Business and Social Sciences at Kingston University.

His research spans Labour Economics, Political Economy, and interdisciplinary topics in Political Sciences, Modern History, and Sociolinguistics. Key expertise includes analyzing immigration impacts on labor markets, language assimilation of immigrants, educational organization in multilingual countries, and Gellner’s theory of nationalism. Current research focuses on political correctness, typologies of nationalism, and quantifying political system stability.

Javier Ortega has contributed to understanding the socio-economic dynamics of migration and cultural integration. His work bridges economic analysis with sociopolitical theories, particularly examining how language policies and nationalism shape labor market outcomes and societal cohesion.
